The Louis Tewanima Footrace commemorates silver medalist Louis Tewanima (1888 - January 18, 1969) who competed in the 1908 and 1912 Olympics.
Mr. Tewanima is of the Hopi Tribe. He attended the Carlisle Indian School where was a teammate of Jim Thrope.
